The number of people living in wildlife habitats around the world is increasing and, as a result, human-wildlife conflicts are more frequent, usually leading to the loss of unique species to the landscape.
Destroying wildlife and their habitat undermines biodiversity and the resiliency of ecosystems; that’s why coexistence is the key to a healthy ecosystem.
International Wildlife Coexistence Network (IWCN) is a first-of-its-kind organization providing expert interdisciplinary assistance, training, collaboration, and shared research to enable communities around the globe to coexist with wildlife.
Working together with nature, rather than against her, brings great benefits and a possible future where communities worldwide live sustainably and in harmony with their local wildlife.
I am very proud to be a part of IWCN’s Coexistence Council. Working together with like-minded artists & scientists, our goal is to collaborate on strategies and tools and strategies to educate local populations on the benefits of coexistence with our planet’s co-inhabitants.
My painting - "Phantom" - is directly inspired by one of their projects - Herder Snow Leopard Coexistence Project. This piece will be available for purchase during Artists for Conservation's 16th annual exhibit, which will celebrate artistic excellence in the depiction of nature, raise awareness of conservation issues and support the organizations dedicated to them. The live exhibit will premier at AFC's Festival at VanDusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver, BC, September 21-24, 2023.
50% of sales proceeds will go directly to IWCN in support of promoting coexistence with those beautiful cats in Nepal.
